Coaches
Rob Grierson and Debbie Martin took Illinois' finest scho-bowlers to two
tournaments this summer. As a practice for the Panasonic Academic
Challenge, Team Illinois first went to the PACE NSC Tournament in Bowling
Green, Ohio (June 15-17). Then, of course, was the annual epic to
Florida for the National Championship (June 23-26) .
Coach Rob Grierson was diligent in his documentation of both of these adventures. Team Illinois 2001 was comprised of six very gifted and qualified scho-bowlers from all ends of the Prairie State. This years Team included Yogesh Raut (IMSA), James Davis (The Latin School of Chicago), Eric Bellm (Carlinville H. S.), Stephen Moore (MacArthur H.S., Decatur), Gary Leuty (Salem H.S.), and David Werner (Lake Zurich H.S.).
If
you're familiar with scholastic bowl and being around scho-bowlers and
coaches for any length of time - especially on a prolonged road trip, you
know things can get... well... rather strange at times. Coach Grierson's
reports may stray, at times, from reporting only the rigors of preparing
for cutthroat academic competitions. We think you'll enjoy the reports,
in-jokes and all, just as they were received by families and friends as
they happened. Enjoy!
